While helping my step son with some of his virtual classwork, his teacher asked him to watch a video about the US for a social studies/geography assignment. It was such a cool video with a great song that he and I watched it a few times (and was singing the song too). Then we saw there was another one about the whole world. I LOVED IT.
This video reminded me of some of my travels and so many things I have learned (and many things I have yet to learn). I love our world and getting to experience as much of it as possible. It is such a complex connected web from the most unreal spectacular wonders to unspeakable traumas.
This video reminds me that my “world” is not the world. Just because a large part of my “bubble” may believe/think/do/say things in a certain way, doesn’t mean anyone else outside that bubble knows anything about it. My perspective may only make sense in my bubble, and I can’t assume others will automatically understand. But that also means I cannot automatically write off someone else’s perspective because I don’t understand what life is like in their “bubble”. All I can do is try to increase the radius of my bubble and hope to broaden my understanding of those other perspectives. Being open to this has led me to see there are things connecting us all.
One really impactful example of this in my life was when I went to Cuba with Semester At Sea in 2001. I was able to spend quite a bit of time talking with one of the tour guides. I was so nervous about being in Cuba based on my preconceived ideas. I thought that everyone and everything would be so different. And while there are quite a few differences obviously, he shared a story with me about things his mother had said to him growing up. My mother had told me the same things. We actually weren’t that different.
I know your “world”/ the world seems really crazy right now for so many of us. I don’t have a lot of answers to most things. BUT I know I love this world and will keep working to do the best I can to make positive changes to myself and my “bubble”. Someday maybe my bubble will be as big as the worl

Most of you know that when we travel we like to fi Most of you know that when we travel we like to find local businesses that help us engage with local culture. Every little town or big city has its own flare, and it’s own little spot like #graze1885 in Vincennes, IN. I had a couple of hours to kill before a meeting and searched this little town for a place to get some work done. Had trouble finding anything, as few places like local coffee shops show on Google Maps (hope they fix that). Stumbled on this place and was thoroughly impressed! Spent some time talking to the Barista about the shop, and a little about the history of Vincennes. If you get a chance to stop by while visiting the #redskeltonmuseum or the #indianamilitarymuseum, I would! #coffeeshop #lunchplace #winebar #drinks #coffee #food #vincennesindiana @poddimouths @nicholaskubik @quququaqua

Originally called Driving the South, this series of adventures is curated by the hosts of the @poddimouths podcast in reaction to feedback from their fans. This first post as Eat.Drink.Road comes to you from the @achotellouisville, a hotel with incredible ambiance, and equally incredible #cocktails. This one is the Smoked Manhattan, my personal favorite - NK - also one of my favorite places to stay in Louisville. The hotel is located in the heart of the #nululouisville district. Check it out if you’re ever in the neighborhood!
